“The Last of Us” premiered on HBO Max two weeks ago and fans of the video game of the same name are beginning to see differences between one product and another.
Although the series is being received with good reviews by users, the third chapter has shown that the creators have decided to change some aspects. Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann (who wrote and directed the game), have built another version of the story, with some variations such as the relationship between Bill and Frank.
Although in the video game it is indirectly understood that both are a loving couple, the former tried to hide his sexual orientation from Joel. In the game, Frank is dead from his infection and subsequent suicide, and his relationship with Bill ends very badly.. That is why sometimes some nostalgic memories invade the latter.
In the series, things are different. In “Long, Long Time”, the name of the chapter broadcast last Sunday the 29th, Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett join the performances of Pedro Pascal and Emma Ramsay. Their characters meet when Bill (Offerman) designs a trap for the infected and Frank (Bartlett) falls into it.
What follows is the decision of the first man to finish off the enemy, but he realizes that in reality the other is a kind man who is only looking for refuge and to reach Boston.. Frank’s manners finally convince Bill to give him shelter and food, and then they begin to build a relationship that goes beyond a friendship.
The love story advances over the years, with their fights and differences, and when they reach old age they decide to put an end to their lives, tired of fighting the ills suffered by Murray Bartlett’s character.
