Those responsible for The Last of Us have no problem changing things with respect to the original video game.
All those who have played The Last of Us they will remember one of the best moments when the protagonists arrive in Jackson, since the action takes place in a hydroelectric dam and you have to dive and everything. In the series we see that place from afar, but the settlement is already fully formed with a community that lives in relative peace. There they meet Tommy (Gabriel Luna), Joel’s (Pedro Pascal) little brother who helps and guides them.
Now, in a recent interview with Variety, the show’s director, Jasmila Žbanićexplains that change.
“I didn’t really talk about it, because it was very natural to me. What we talked about a lot was that I survived the war in Sarajevo in the ’90s. I think it was interesting for Craig and Neil that I knew how to live in a place that was like Jackson in a way, because we were surrounded by the Serbian army. We were constantly bombarded. We had to be alert, we had to survive, we had to learn to live without anything, without civilization. There was no electricity, no food, nothing. But we managed to survive thanks to solidarity and the way the city was restructured.”
“I was talking to Neil a lot about the whole vibe of the city and what was on his mind, and what’s also not there. There are a few elements that Craig added to the whole piece. I also talked to a lot of The Last of Us players. I always ask: What do you want to see? What do you expect from the game? They would be saying to keep these emotions and atmosphere.”
The series could not be more interesting. Joel has been injured and Ellie must protect him from the dangers that lie ahead. Here we leave you the trailer of episode 7 of The Last of Us which will be released next Monday, February 27.
