The ‘Juliette’ storm is leaving an episode of intense cold throughout the Peninsula. In the port of Navacerrada the temperature in the early hours was close to -13º. The gusts of wind move the snowflakes and have reached up to 30 kilometers per hour. Snowplows are now prepared to add salt and prevent the formation of ice sheets.
The port of Navacerrada, on the border between Madrid and Segovia, stages the arrival of the intense arctic cold. In the mountains of the Pyrenees, temperatures have reached negative 18 degrees. It’s time to shelter up in mountain spots although temperatures also plummet in the provincial capitals. In Castilla y León, the values have dropped to 4 degrees below zero, 6 degrees below zero in Teruel with extended warnings in more than 35 provinces due to low temperatures.
Snowfall can be especially abundant in the north of Mallorca with a red level warning or in the Tramontana mountains. Clouds and clearings are also expected in the northern half, cold in the south and highs that in the afternoon will not exceed 5º in the center of the Peninsula with values that will remain with only 1 positive degree in Soria.
