Batman finds in the Joker his new partner to fight crime
The Clown Prince of Crime replaces Robin in a variant cover of Batman/Joker: The Deadly Duo #6 by John McCreawhich serves as a tribute to an art of Carmine Infantino from the 60s.
Shared on McCrea’s Twitter, the cover shows Batman next to Joker wearing the suit Robin on a rooftop. The villain carries a bloody hammer and a laughing fish in his art, another tribute to history “The Joker’s Five Vengeances”. “Obviously a tribute to one of the most iconic Batman covers ever!” McCrea wrote. “It is an honor to work on this. The art of Marc Silvestri it’s amazing”.
McCrea’s cover is a nod to an art that Infantino and Murphy Anderson they drew in 1966, now considered one of the most iconic pieces of Batman and Robin. The original illustration shows the DC characters on a rooftop, and Batman’s suit can be seen to feature his yellow oval chest, which debuted in 1964 and was popularized by writer Infantino. John Broome and the editor Julius Schwartz.
The Deadly Duo follows the Dark Knight and Gotham’s worst villain teaming up to defeat evil beings in the face of the Joker. Each of them has supernatural powers, including the ability to mutate, and everything seems to indicate that they were created by Donald Simmsa businessman who holds a grudge against Batman and the Clown Prince of Crime.
