On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden’s attorney said in a statement that the FBI, the US federal police, is searching a Biden home in Rehoboth, a seaside town in Delaware, to see if there are others ” confidential documents” not returned by Biden after his vice presidency under Barack Obama: some had already been found in recent months, after other searches that had taken place first in the office of a Biden study center in Washington, and then in the private home of Biden in Wilmington, also in Delaware (the Rehoboth house is the beach house of the Biden family). Biden’s lawyer, Bob Bauer, specified that the search had already been planned and that the US president guaranteed his collaboration.
In recent months there have been several controversies around the use of classified US government documents, which had first concerned former President Donald Trump, then Biden himself and finally the former vice president under Trump, Mike Pence. All three, albeit in very different circumstances (Trump, for example, had tried to oppose their return), had kept documents that contained confidential information after leaving their previous government posts.
