We first saw it at EICMA when it was still in a pre-production stage, but the latest news regarding the new classic 125 from FB Mondial they tell us it’s on its way. Is called Spartan and as the name itself suggests, it is an essential motorcycle that pays attention to the point, but not for this without charm and personality.
Since the beginning of its new course in 2015, the FB Mondial brand has been able to distinguish itself above all among the eighth of a liter precisely with the weapon of originality and the new proposal is no different. Called to complement the appreciated neo retro HPS and the SMX motard and enduro in the range, the Spartan is driven by a single-cylinder air-cooled four-stroke and two valves mated to a five-speed gearbox. Electronic injection and control unit are the result of collaboration with Dell’Orto and the declared performances are of 8.5 kW (11.5 CV) at 9,000 rpm for power e 9,5 Nm at 7500 rpm for torque. Consumption is expected to be reduced and thanks to the 15-litre tank the range should be considerable, we assume in the order of 400 km.
From a cycling point of view, the Spartan can only have a double cradle tubular steel frame in perfect classic style combined with a traditional telescopic fork with 37 mm diameter stems and a pair of shock absorbers with 64 mm of travel. The saddle, hospitable for two, is a 80cm above the groundthe ground clearance is 210 mm e the curb weight is 125 kilograms. The brakes are both discs with a 298 mm rotor up front and a three-piston caliper. The rear disc is 210 mm with single-piston floating caliper and obviously CBS combined braking cannot be missing. The wheels are both 17″ and mount 110/70 and 130/70 tyres. The arrival of the Spartan 125 is scheduled for spring at a competitive price: 2.990 euro.
