Seventh goal of the season for a striker who thrives on ups and downs: an injection of confidence for a player with whom Max had been hard in the past but who is now defended fiercely by his coach
February 20 – La Spezia
The number 7 came out on Moise Kean’s wheel. No, it’s not what he wears on his shirt, but the goals he’s scored this season. Seven as in 2018-19, so far his best year in the black and white jersey, one less than Milik and three less than Vlahovic, who is the only striker of the Lady already in double figures but in La Spezia he remained dry. MK18 instead unlocked a complicated match.
“Kean scored a great goal”, praised Massimiliano Allegri, who is now pampering him after defending him a week ago at the Allianz Stadium from those fans who “boo some players for bias” (Max dixit). Moise had entered the second half against Fiorentina and after a non-impeccable stop he had been targeted by a spectator, against whom the coach had lashed out with great vehemence. In reality, the web has not been a masterpiece, but in a moment like this, even luck is needed. Moise hit dirty leaving the newcomer Marchetti on the spot, perhaps surprised by the trajectory of the ball. An injection of self-esteem for a player who experiences ups and downs, in whom Allegri has chosen to trust. The blue striker scored his fifth goal in the league at the Picco, the same ones scored in all of last season. Only in 2020-21 (17 goals with PSG) had he done better in a single season.
“It was the first time Kean and Vlahovic had played together and it wasn’t easy,” added the coach, even though in reality it had already happened in the first leg against Spezia that they were both starters. “We had prepared the match by trying to lengthen them, to attack more deeply because we are somewhat defective in this, sometimes they both attacked together, sometimes they both went against each other. In those situations you have to be good at taking turns. In any case, even Vlahovic has worked very well with the team.” Allegri has often been harsh with Moise in the past, even leaving him out for disciplinary reasons, but in the last period he seems to have found the key to motivating him. Moise has lost weight and, according to the coach, he has grown a lot of head. He is more serious and mature and because of this he has become more trustworthy. However, Allegri expects even more from him: after all, he’s only 22, time is on his side.
