It had been a while since there was any news of one of the most mysterious videogame cases of the last period. The story of the production of The Day Before is slowly taking on the characteristics of a real urban legend, with worrying rumors and not entirely convincing reassurances. To put a stop to this eternal discussion, Fntastic e mytona they decided to clear some fog by posting a long gameplay of 10 minutes, formalizing a release date on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S. Will they have succeeded in their intent or will yet another disappointment await us?
The Day Before: All Quiet on the Eastern Front
From the point of view of gameplay news, nothing has been added to what has already been seen. We were once again able to admire the beauty and attention to detail present in The Day Before, sviluppato con Unreal Engine 5, viewing some game mechanics that will be waiting for us once it is released. For the rest we observe a survivor and her small team, who wander around some locations in search of resources to be used to survive the end of the world after the zombie apocalypse. Our intrepid and anonymous heroine wanders through practically uninhabited places, entering first inside a house in an isolated suburb before moving towards the city. The environments change gradually without presenting a clear break between the first and second location, accompanying us inside an old fast food restaurant. Then continue on un supermarket, still looking for items, even though the place has already been extensively looted. The journey up to this point has been quite uneventful, passing through roads that are almost completely deserted, except for a few infected who are wisely shot down from the right distance. However, it is in the last part that we find a pinch of that thrill that we had felt while watching the first, more engaging, gameplay video. Our team of survivors arrives at a police stationa, place where you can probably find weapons and equipment. This time, however, the building has a high number of infected inside and the exploration will be carried out in the dark, supported only by a small torch. Unfortunately the video cuts off without showing what the characters find inside and if their exploration was successful.
As you can see, there aren’t many new items, even if you can spot them some interesting details. In addition to the combat system, in this The Day Before gameplay video we were able to take a closer look at the crafting and modification system, in particular on the weapon customization. Within the game, in fact, it will not only be possible to create bullets, healing objects and accessories but also to modify the weapons in our possession in a precise way. The customization of the fire mouth of our DEPROV-74 inside the garage is an excellent example. The possibility of managing the inventory is also clearly visible, with an interlocking organization system. Finally, the attempts that the girl makes on the keypad of the fast food door to be able to access them, by clicking the more worn keys, make us foresee that the title will not only be action and suspense but might offer some puzzles as well in order to access secret areas with special equipment. At the end of our analysis, however, only one doubt remains: why release a 10-minute gameplay video without any real relevant news?

Fntastic’s goal was probably to silence some annoying rumors that have been circulating on the internet for some time. If there’s anyone who still doesn’t know what we’re talking about, the making of this game he’s been through really dark times. It all started with a series of release date slips. Initially The Day Before was expected throughout 2021 to then be moved to January 2023 initially and then to March 2023. News of the last period is the official date of November 10th of this year. The reason seems to be related to issues related to the name, which they claim has already been registered by unknown Americans. The production claimed that in January 2021, when they announced the game, the brand was still available and for this reason they had moved forward with the project, only to later discover that the situation had changed dramatically. Therefore, the developers took time to manage and resolve the legal problems of the video game name.
Subsequently, according to a statement from Fntastic to IGN USA, the postponement had already been previously agreed with the publisher. The emergence of these new rumors and a story with increasingly indefinite contours, has inevitably given rise to various conspiracy theories. According to some rumors, in fact, it is rumored that all this great, immense and twisted story is just a lot of smoke and mirrors of gamers, with each announcement more and more eager to finally be able to play The Day Before, but above all of investors, attracted by the clamor media around the title. Many then began to wonder if the whole project it wasn’t just a huge scam to extract as many funds as possible from the sponsors. Despite the numerous denials by the developers, the legend showed no signs of losing consistency. Perhaps just to put a definitive point, Fntastic has decided to launch this gameplay video: essential, long, without cuts, hoping to demonstrate the work that has been done for the game.
