The dramatic moment of The Last of Us seen by its actors
In a recent interview with Variety, Lamar Johnson and Keivonn Woodard, who play Henry and Sam in fiction, talked about the good feeling they had for each other when they met on set and how that helped build their on-screen dynamic. .
“The first day we met, we were running around the production offices playing tag. It was so organic and easy to connect with Kevionn. He has such a great spirit, such a great energy, that it was so easy to make that connection. He’s so talented. Considering that this is his first role, I am very proud of him.. He did a great job,” Johnson said of his partner.
“I really like to try new things. Thought I’d give it a shot and get an idea of what it’s like.. I just wanted to do it right,” Woodard said through an interpreter.
Regarding the crudest part of the episode, Johnson commented on the desire he had to recreate as faithfully as possible what is one of the most impressive and emotional parts of the game, but without tracing it one hundred percent and doing a more natural job accordingly. to the events of the scene.
“I really wanted to honor the game’s performances. That was important to me, but also, I didn’t want to create a carbon copy. I wanted to play it the way I felt inclined to, or felt compelled to.. It was just about trying to be as present as possible with my surroundings,” the actor said.
“If I can sum it up in one word, I would just say ‘shock.’ There was a wave of emotions hitting him at the same time. It was actually very difficult for him to process at the time. It’s a lot for him, especially after all he’s been through to protect Sam. and all they’ve been through that night, may Sam die by her hand. It’s kind of hard to digest.
He was like, ‘You are my purpose. You are my will to live here, the reason I live and the fact that you are no longer here. I can’t be here. I’ll join you,'” Johnson added about the painful scene in the series.
