ROME, 01 FEB – The Senate hall has unanimously approved the bill for the establishment of the commission of inquiry against feminicide and all forms of gender-based violence. With the definitive go-ahead, the commission now becomes bicameral with 18 deputies and 18 senators, so each group will have its own representative. Established in 2017 and so far only in the Senate, the commission’s objectives include investigating the dimensions and causes of femicide, monitoring the implementation of the Istanbul Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and ascertaining any inconsistencies and deficiencies in the laws in force.
