Sumatra Voice – Political observer from Airlangga University, Prof. Kacung Marijan, thinks that it is natural that Nasdem Chairperson Surya Paloh wants to meet with PDIP Ketum Megawati Soekarnoputri.
This meeting is important to defuse tensions between the two political parties so far due to the emergence of the issue of a cabinet reshuffle.
“Political communication to build a coalition is very important,” said Prof. Kacung.
It’s no secret that Paloh is diligent in conducting political gatherings. “Pak Surya is one of the elite who diligently does this, including efforts to communicate with Mrs. Mega. That’s a natural thing,” he said.

Kacung said, that’s business later. Most importantly, the communication is established first.
Relations between political parties should not be frozen but must be liquid and warm. “The results are different, because the positions for the presidential candidates who are supported are indeed different. However, it is positive,” he added.
Regarding the chances for NasDem and PDIP to get back together, Kacung sees it is open, especially since the coalition for the 2024 Presidential Election has been built and not final.
“Although small, the opportunity to form a coalition is still there. For example, to carry Ganjar Pranowo-Anies Baswedan or Anies-Puan Maharani,” he said.
Executive Director of Strategic Political Trias Agung Baskoro predicts that the meeting between Paloh and Mega will be difficult to carry out. So far, there has been political resistance from the PDIP after the NasDem declared Anies as a presidential candidate.

The reshuffle drama that was loudly voiced by PDIP made the chances of Paloh and Mega meeting even smaller.
“Obviously, the PDIP elite has intensively criticized the performance of the NasDem ministers, which had never happened before. This made the meeting even more difficult,” he said.
