The campus authorities alerted about this situation on their social networks and disapproved of the student’s attitude. They clarified that it was all a joke, but they still decided to implement special security measures for today.

Nintendo Direct prank causes chaos at US university
California State University police revealed that a professor received an email threat demanding that he cancel his class today, February 8, “for the good of humanity” due to a “once-in-a-lifetime event.” ”.
“After hours of investigation by our detectives, we learned of the Nintendo Direct event that would occur on the exact date and time that the person suggested the class be cancelled,” authorities said in their statement.
They explained that the student contacted the teacher again to clarify that it was all a “bad joke regarding the Nintendo Direct event.” The police department won’t be taking any chances, though, so they announced a campus security tightening for today.
“In an act of caution, there will be more officers on campus tomorrow, community service officers and community service specialists will be highly visible, and our K9 team will be touring the campus and buildings.
We understand that a threat of any kind, real or not, makes many fear for their safety. Please know that we will do everything possible to ensure the safety of our university community,” the statement concluded.
