The saga of GTA by Rockstar is one of the most famous in the video gamebut CEO of Take-Two Strauss Zelnick does not believe in technologies like the cloud or AI in the game of PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Zelnick does believe it will make everyone’s games bigger, better, and more ambitious; the CEO is known for being very candid with the media and investors about where he thinks the technology is going.
And during the company’s fiscal results where it revealed that GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 have new devastating sales milestones, it has left some interesting phrases beyond PS4 y/o Xbox One.

Zelnick has made clear his thoughts on artificial intelligence and whether or not it will transform game development as we know it today.
The CEO has given a long answer to a question about the AI technology like ChatGPTbeginning by pointing out his own historical skepticism.
He himself responded to the technological hype by saying that although AI stands for artificial intelligence, “there is no such thing as artificial intelligence.”
And having said that, he affirms that he is “very excited” with the current leaps in AI and machine learning, he believes that tools are being created that could reduce the costs of game development.
However, he doesn’t think it will affect the overall cost structure as if things get easier, developers and publishers will want to do even more.
“College students think that ChatGPT is going to allow them to consult something and to submit work. The problem is that if the question is ‘Describe what really happened the night of Paul Revere’s parade’ (…) oops, everyone going to send the same wording.”
The protagonist of Grand Theft Auto does not have these problems
“ChatGPT is the calculator of today. When I was a kid there weren’t any and it was all by hand. When they came the parents thought ‘Oh these kids aren’t going to have to learn math anymore’ and the answer is yes.
They’re still going to have to learn math, absolutely, but you have a tool that makes everything easier. And ChatGPT is the same.”
Zelnick says it’s an exciting era of new tools (…) to do really cool things more efficiently, so we’re going to want to do more and more creatively.
“And no, he’s not going to let someone say, ‘Please build the competitor to Grand Theft Auto that’s better than Grand Theft Auto,’ and do it, release digitally, and that’s it. People will try, but that won’t happen. “.
Zelnick was also told about cloud gaming, something Take-Two believed in and was an early supporter of Google Stadia; but he is not convinced that it is something revolutionary.
“Cloud Gaming is a technology, not a business model,” it said, transcribed by IGN. “It’s a distribution technology. And (…) wider distribution is always good in the entertainment business.
If we can reach more consumers with our properties, we will be happy to do so, provided the conditions make sense.”
“That being said, I’ve never felt like cloud gaming was a seismic shift, because I think if you’re ready to pay $60-70 for AAA, you’re also ready to buy a console, and I think Stadia figured that out.
So bringing high-quality titles to non-console consumers may have a marginal effect, but I don’t think it’s going to be a business revolution. I think it will be more of an evolution. And there are still technical challenges to solve.”
In another order of things, the CEO de Take-Two He has also commented on the GTA VI leaks, according to Zelnick it was more of an “emotional issue”; although the company could face layoffs.
Speaking to IGN, the businessman is not concerned about the impact it may have on his business, as before publishing these results he was more focused on the impact for employees working on the game.
“We take leaks very seriously and they disappoint us all, it’s very frustrating and upsetting for the team,” he said. “However, as a business matter it does not affect us. But as a personal and emotional matter, our teams are affected.”
the gains suggest that the Take-Two employees they may be about to feel a more tangible business impact.
Following the report of net income of $1.38 billion in the quarter that is below its guidance of $1.41 billion, Take-Two is preparing to take cost-cutting measures.
When Zelnick was asked by the outlet if this meant layoffs, he replied that “that’s not the plan”; but some jobs may be lost.
“We don’t expect mass layoffs or anything like that, but it’s not like we guarantee employment for life either,” he said. “So there will be certain cases where jobs are lost, but I think they will be quite modest.”
And this is all Strauss Zelnick has said about cloud or AI about GTAinsisting that the GTA 6 leak was more of a “emotional affair“ what other thing.
