“Yes, precisely to talk about this series through the manipulation of the media, that despite the fact that many of us are people who have principles, who want to be agents of change in our world, who want to influence these questions that as society we have to have, despite that, many times it cannot be done because power is much greater than that, and it sets very clear limits on us that become obstacles to telling the truth as it should be told.”
In that sense, Maya He talks about his character, how he gets involved in this story, and the decisions he will have to make. “What happens to ‘Julia Torrado’ is that despite her very clear principles and values and the desire to do her job in the best possible way, her lifelong colleague, for whom she feels deep respect, because by acting in very strange ways and that are affecting her emotionally, she is in this dilemma between whether to protect him, or continue a game that is not necessarily the most ethical, because she discovers it at some point.
She points out that in this interaction with “Ramiro” she discovers a dark side that she had never seen before, “suddenly (this) puts her in check and in an important ethical dilemma, where she will have to take action at some point.”
In a corrupt or corrupted system where the powerful dominate, It is difficult to find a way out of this vicious circle. “In the end it is what we are trying to do all of us. I try, privileges give you some room for maneuver, but the less privileges, the less your room for maneuver is also and then you have to be creative and find other ways to find that long-awaited freedom that human beings seek and that seems like that carrot that we will never be able to reach”.
The series consists of 10 episodes, all available on Star+, in addition to Maya and Óscar, they also participate, Dominika Paleta, Ela Velden, Pamela Almanza and Alejandro Camacho, among others. In this drama that is told, there are also touches of black humor.
“What this series invites us is to reflect on the fallacy of authority, of this unquestionable belief, on this unquestionable credibility that opinion leaders often have for some of us and I think that today we have to throw away those false idols, to return to believe in our own experiences, which dictate what is not right and what needs to be changed”, concludes Maya.
