JAKARTA – The DPR RI’s commitment to promoting the anti-corruption movement continues. This was voiced and a comprehensive solution was sought by SEAPAC and in collaboration with the BKSAP DPR RI in organizing the SEAPAC Conference and General Assembly in Jakarta on 27 and 28 February 2023.
South East Asia Parliamentary Against Corruption (SEAPAC) is an umbrella organization for parliamentarians in Southeast Asia in the field of anti-corruption.
In this biennial event, SEAPAC carries the theme Parliamentary Actions on Political Finance Oversight and Combating Green Corruption in Southeast Asia.

Carrying out the theme of political finance, Fadli Zon, as Chairman of SEAPAC stated, “Money has the influence to corrupt political processes and political finance that is not transparent threatens democracy around the world. Without good systems, adequate regulations, and strong oversight mechanisms in political finance, the functioning of democracy and long-term economic development will be seriously hampered.”
The theme of political finance and also green corruption is considered very relevant to current conditions. Indonesia will enter a political campaign period at the end of 2023, as well as several countries in Southeast Asia.
The root of the problem of corruption in many countries is the weak regulation and supervision of political finance, including funding for political parties, campaign funds, and also donations from third parties.
So it is deemed necessary how parliament can play a role in improving regulation and oversight for political finance that is more transparent and free of corruption.
In this conference, speakers from various sectors were presented. Panelists come from various universities in the world and also state institutions that have expertise and competence in the fields of politics, finance, and state financial audits.
Fadli Zon hopes that this international meeting will result in useful discussions and also the development of regulations and mechanisms to strengthen the anti-corruption legislation system.
He added that it is the responsibility of parliament to formulate and adapt regulations related to the transparency of political financing and also the need for regulatory reform in order to be able to respond to current and future political challenges.
