February 3, 2023
if they could, instead of the blue car they would use their beloved two wheels and arrive at Palazzo Madama or in Parliament riding extremely sporty Ducatis and Suzukis, roaring Harley-Davidsons or mumbling vintage BMWs; all motorcycles (and what a motorcycle!) and no scooters…
This is the varied representation in the garage of the parliamentarians they announced the establishment of the Intergroup for Motorcycle Mobility, set up on the initiative of Senator Erika Stefani, with a great passion for two wheels that he told us in this interview. when he was Minister for Disabilities.
It’s a structure cross-partywhich was created to promote legislative initiatives and activate proposals that favor mobility on two wheels and road safety education, improve user safety, support production and promote sporting activity.
An organ that brings together motorcycle enthusiast MPs, aware of the problems of this world, the constitution of which was supported and promoted by the Italian Motorcycle Federation, which attended the event with its top representatives.
In addition to Stefani, the presentation conference was attended by senators Gian Marco Centinaio, Gianni Berrino, Massimo Garavaglia, Stefania Pucciarelli and Domenica Spinelli and also Guido Quintino Liris, Giusy Versace and the honorable Roberto Bagnasco, Dario Giagoni, Giandonato La Salandra took part and Cyrus Male; during the meeting the Honorable Edoardo Rixi, Senator Elena Murelli (President of the Historic Vehicles Parliamentary Intergroup) and the IMF President Giovanni Copioli, who brought to the attention of those present some of the most heartfelt needs of motorcyclists.
Giovanni Copioli’s statement
“We need – said the IMF President – Of someone who listens to the requests that are placed every day, starting from the theme of the motorcyclist as a vulnerable user: the recognition of this status in the Highway Code should be the starting point for addressing other topics relating to the promotion of road safety and education, the protection of the heritage of historic vehicles, the analysis of problems relating to insurance coverage and the issue of off-road traffic. As FMI, we guarantee maximum availability and are at the service of all motorcyclists”.
Senator Erika Stefani’s statement
Erika Stefaniin thanking President Copioli for his collaboration in setting up the group, declared: “Motorcycles favor mobility in terms of time and space, but today the security problem appears more and more stringent, especially in terms of maintenance of the road surface and the attention of other road users towards motorcyclists. As an Interparliamentary Group we will have a lot of work from these points of view and we will commit ourselves to promoting motorized two-wheelers as the ideal means of discovering and making our country discoverable”.
After the smiles, the handshakes and the usual photos, the first concrete actions of the Intergroup are now awaited, especially with regard to security: Graziella Viviano, Elena’s mother, also asked for them, on behalf of the many, indeed too many family members of people who lost their lives on the road, while driving a motorbike.
