Vinales is back on a permanent basis in the Italian team, with which he had competed in the Estoril round last year. TPR will debut at the Assen round at the end of April
February 7, 2023
The only empty box on the 2023 World Superbike grid has been filled with the name of Isaac Vinales. Lucio Pedercin’s TPRi, which a few months ago started a collaboration with the Vinales Racingannounced today that the 29-year-old Spaniard will compete with the Kawasaki ZX-10RR private team of Volta Mantovana.
Born in Llanca (Girona) in 1993, Vinales started racing in the CEV 125 in 2006, and then moved on to the Moto2 category after four years. In 2012 he competed in the Moto3 world championship and remained in the minor GP class until 2016, when he moved up to Moto2. In 2019 he changed the paddock and moved to the Supersport world championship with Team Kallio. In his two years in 600 Isaac has conquered 5 podiums and in 2021 he competed in the entire Superbike world championship with the Kawasaki of Team Orelac VerdNatura.
Last year, Vinales did not find stable accommodation, but he still competed in 10 Supersport races with the Ducati of Davide Giugliano’s D34G Team, and the Estoril Superbike round with TPR. On that occasion he closed the first race in twenty-first place and the sprint race in thirteenth, while he was forced to retire in race two.
TPR will not take part in the first two non-European trips in Australia and Indonesia, and will make its seasonal debut at the Assen track in the Netherlands, where the third round of WorldSBK 2023 will take place from 21 to 23 April.
Here are the declarations of the Lombard manager and the pilot.
The statement by Lucio Pedercini, Team Principal
I am happy to confirm that Isaac will be back in our team for the 2023 season. We already worked together at Estoril last year and so we know each other a little. We are working hard behind the scenes and I am confident that the new team set-up will be able to deliver some good results. In any case we will always do our best. We will update in the coming weeks with more information on the tests, but we will certainly be ready for Assen!.
Isaac Viñales statement
I am very happy to be able to race with TPR by Viñales Racing in 2023. I am happy to be back in the World Superbike paddock and I’m working my best to then give 100% and hope for the good results that will surely come. I want to thank Lucio, Angel and the sponsors for trusting me.
