MOSCOW – Senator Russia ask Members European Parliament to openly condemn desecration of the Quran in Sweden and the Netherlands. Russia also calls on the European Parliament to and take steps to protect people of faith and hold perpetrators accountable.
“Russian senators call on Members of the European Parliament to publicly condemn the actions of radical extremists as a display of religious intolerance,” said the Chairperson of the Council of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko on her Telegram channel, Saturday (4/2/2023), as quoted by TASS.

He noted that Russia is a unique country, where people of different nationalities and religions have lived in peace and respect for each other for many centuries. According to him, the desecration of the Koran shocked not only Muslims, but also representatives of all religions in Russia.
“This is why we are outraged by the lack of proper reaction to extremist acts by the governments and parliaments of European countries. The empowerment of radicals by law enforcement and local authorities is appalling,” Matviyenko concluded.
