MOSCOW – A French citizen who was in trouble was rescued by the Russian tanker “Kama” in the Atlantic Ocean.
The Russian Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) revealed this on Tuesday (31/1/2023).
“A detachment of the Russian Navy, led by the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, was on a patrol mission when it received a distress call from a small ship,” the military said.
The tanker “Kama” immediately dispatched to investigate the summons, deviated from its route, found the cruise ship damaged and boarded it.
“The crew took one person, his dog and their personal effects with them,” the military statement said.

The man rescued is a French national who was traveling alone, accompanied only by his dog.
Her yacht was damaged in a storm, which eventually disabled the steering gear and flooded the ship.
Failing to repair his own yacht, the man is forced to send a distress call and is picked up by Russian sailors.
“The man was given first aid by the crew and will be taken to a nearby port at his request,” the military said.
