MOSCOW – Russia will propose a partnership with the Gulf States to produce the advanced Su-75 fighter jet, also referred to as Checkmate.
Russian media reported this on Thursday (16/2/2023).
“Rosoboronexport is considering options for the joint design and manufacture of state-of-the-art high-tech products, including a fifth-generation fighter based on the Checkmate light tactical aircraft,” said Director General of Rosoboronexport Alexander Mikheev.
Rosoboronexport is Russia’s arms export agency, and Checkmate is a single-engine stealth fighter being developed by Sukhoi for export and the Russian Air Force.
“Middle Eastern countries are Russia’s traditional and important partners,” Mikheev said, adding, “Rosoboronexport implemented many military-technical cooperation projects in the region.”

He continued, “Today, we are busy working out proposals for partnership forms that Middle East countries can directly interest, especially related to technology transfer, joint R&D and implementation of offset programs.”
Rosoboronexport will host a large-scale exhibition of Russia’s leading defense industry companies in the country’s pavilion at IDEX 2023.
The world’s largest international defense and security exhibition will be held in Abu Dhabi between 20 and 24 February 2023.
