Roger Waters to the UN Council to the presidents of the USA, Russia and Ukraine: “Find an agreement on a ceasefire”
Russia has asked the United Nations Security Council to include Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters in the list of speakers for today’s February 9, 2023 Council meeting on Ukraine. Waters has long taken pro-Russian positions.
This was stated by the first Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky. The Tax reports it.
At the UN council, Waters called for a ceasefire, addressing the presidents of the United States Joe Biden, Russia, Vladimir Putin and Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky: “President Biden, President Putin, President Zelensky, please change the course of events, agree today on a ceasefire, although of course that will only be the starting point,” Waters said.
The singer then stressed that “Russia’s invasion is illegal and I condemn it, but it wasn’t unprovoked, so I condemn provocateurs in the strongest terms.”
In an interview released to the Russian agency in recent months, Waters had accused the United States and its leadership of having provoked the Ukrainian crisis. The Pink Floyd singer had also spoken out against Ukrainian nationalists.
