Russia has invited the British musician Roger Watersco-founder of Pink Floyd y critic of Western policy in Ukraine, to intervene this Wednesday in a meeting of the UN Security Council to address the supply of arms to kyiv, according to a diplomatic source.
Roger Waters has criticized the United States and its allies on more than one occasion for giving heavy weapons to Ukraine, something that in his opinion has contributed to the aggravation of the conflict.
Russiawhich has convened the session scheduled for this Wednesday, usually invites different voices to this type of meeting, often journalists or experts from Western countries, notorious for opposing the positions of their governments with respect to the war in Ukraine.
The session in this case will focus on the supply of weapons to the Ukrainian army after the latest announcements of deliveries of tanks and other materials made by various countries.
The Security Council meets very often on the situation in Ukraine, but of the meetings no action ever comes outgiven that Russia has the power of veto in this body and its positions are diametrically opposed to those of the majority and, above all, to those of other powers with this privilege such as the United States, France and the United Kingdom.
Roger Waters, who has spoken several times in public about the ukrainian warhas been heavily criticized by Ukrainians and their allies for his stances.
In recent days, the musician has been embroiled in controversy after Polly Samson, David Gilmour’s wife and lyricist on several Pink Floyd records, accused him of anti-Semitism and being an “apologist” for Russian President Vladimir Putinfor some of his statements.
