More than 20 years after the release of the film that made Russell Crowe an international star and brought him face to face with Joaquin Phoenix on the sands of a Roman amphitheatre, Ridley Scott has managed to carry out the sequel to Gladiator which, in addition to a new protagonist, already has a release date.
Well, as Paramount has announced, Gladiator 2 will be released on November 22, 2024, just to get to Christmas and be eligible for awards season. Well, with the first film they did not do so badly, since they took home the statuette for Best Film and Best Leading Actor as well as three other technical awards.

Russell Crowe Doesn’t Plan To Return For Gladiator Sequel
As Máximo ends in the first Gladiator movie it was highly unlikely that Russell Crowe could return to the sequel to the film, but since in Hollywood you never know, the actor was recently asked what his plans were. To which the New Zealander had no problem answering that he “at all” was going to return to the sequel.
Although it is not unlikely that they will be seen flashbacks to the short time Maximo and Lucius spent together, surely they’ll be rescued from the first Gladiator movie rather than have Russell Crowe back on set with a new actor playing the kid.
