The defendant in the murder of Brigadier J or Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat, Richard Eliezer thanked the parents of the late Joshua who had opened the door for forgiveness for him.
Richard also expressed his apologies via telephone communication with the Head of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) Hasto Atmojo Suroyo.
“Yesterday, the last time I communicated was by telephone. Yes, he (Bharada E) is very happy, there is this deposit,” said Hasto when met by journalists in the South Jakarta area on Thursday (16/2/2023).
Hasto conveyed Richard’s message to the media crew that Bharada E expressed his gratitude to the parents of the late Yosua who had opened the door for forgiveness so that he received a light sentence of 1 year and 6 months.

“Entrusted, thank you to Yoshua’s mother and Joshua’s father who have apologized,” said Hasto.
In addition, Richard also expressed his gratitude to his media colleagues who had helped oversee the case.
“Thank you to the media colleagues who have participated in overseeing this case,” said Hasto conveying Bharada E’s message.
The executor of the shooter, Ferdy Sambo’s aide, was also grateful for the Attorney General’s decision not to appeal his sentence.
“Thank God, maybe the prosecutor has also realized that there is a possibility that he may even be acquitted,” he said.

“Therefore, thank God, if the prosecutor’s office does not make an appeal. This is also our hope, even though it is actually the prosecutor’s right,” he continued.
The Junior Prosecutor for General Crimes (Jampidum) of the Attorney General’s Office, Fadil Zumhana, explained that the reason they did not file an appeal was because Yosua’s family had willingly accepted the verdict.
“That the victim’s family, Mrs. Yosua and Mr. Yosua and their relatives, I see developments starting from the trial process until the end of yesterday’s decision by Richard Eliezer Pudihang Lumiu, an attitude of forgiveness based on sincerity,” said Fadil.
Although the verdict handed down by the Panel of Judges was far from what the public prosecutor (JPU) demanded, namely 12 years in prison.
