“Exercise is under consideration,” Pistorius told ARD, without confirming or adding any details for now.
According to him, military maneuvers in the country bordering Ukraine, which was invaded a year ago by Russia, will send a very clear signal to NATO allies. “But also to (Russian President Vladimir) Putin,” said Pistorius.
“NATO is far from the weakness that (Putin) believed in for a long time,” Pistorius added.
“It’s much stronger and more unified than last year,” he said.
Nevertheless, he continued, for countries in eastern Europe such as Poland, the Baltic countries, Slovakia and others, it is important to see that Germany as a member of the most important European alliance, and the US as a transatlantic partner, uphold their defense obligations. .
