BEIJING – China called the United States (US) a “major disruptor” on the world stage. According to Beijing, Washington seeks “hegemony” over other countries.
China’s remarks came in response to an American official lambasting Beijing for its “aggressive” policies.
During a press briefing on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Wang Wenbin was asked to respond to recent remarks by US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, who accused China of trying to “reshape the international order based on rule.”
“The facts have fully proven that the US is a major disruptor of international rule and order. Hegemony is the hallmark of his approach to… international affairs,” said Wang.
He added, “It is the US, not China, that is undermining and trampling on international rules.”

The spokesperson went on to cite “abuses” by the US military in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, as well as the use of sanctions for “coercion,” “looting” and “exploitation,” saying America’s foreign policy had “created division and fomented confrontation across the continent.” world.”
According to Wang, the US intervention in Ukraine also shows Washington is “a source of trouble rather than an ‘defender of peace’ to the world.”
Wang notes that the US has flooded the Ukrainian battlefield with more weapons than any other country.
