The co-op title will take as the backdrop a Massachusetts city overrun by vampires, who have blocked the sun and the darkness of the night reigns, and will host the largest game world ever created by Arkane.
Interviewed by IGN the production designer Ben Horne said that with Redfall they wanted “achieve the biggest and most ambitious setting we’ve ever had.” But to do so they have not distorted what makes Arkane titles unique, environmental storytelling. “We knew that with Redfall we wanted to maintain the characteristics of the Arkane DNA that we love, what we appreciate from our past games, namely: environmental storytelling, a strong narrative through the game world so that it seems lived from the inside and that it is worth save it. And so, as we went through this challenge of creating such a large open world, we wanted to make sure that every house players entered, or convenience stores, had legible.”
Horne also added that we will find scattered around the city”thousands and thousands of lines of readable.” Obviously it will be interesting to be able to discover the historical background and the small subtleties that can leak from the world, but since it is a playable title both in co-op and in single player, which requires an always active connection, how many will get lost in the thousands of readable lines and documents scattered across the Massachusetts city as we talk to our friends on the microphone?
Redfall will be available from 2 maggio per Xbox Series X/S, PC ed al day one sul Game Pass. In the meantime, below you can find the full interview and here the extended gameplay and the trailer of the exploration of the game world.
