The Red Star players today wore a special shirt dedicated to Sinisa Mihajlovic against Vojvodina to remember one of the greatest players of the Belgrade club
Red Star Belgrade and Vojvodina, the final 1-1 result in today’s league match, both wore special Sinisa Mihajlovic memorial shirts in today’s match, as the Serie A legend played for both clubs in his career.
The man from Vukovar: first two years in Vojvodina and then in 1990 in Belgrade…
Mihajlovic has spent most of his life in Italy, as a player and then as a coach, losing his battle with an aggressive form of leukemia in December 2022.
There have been giveaways at all of his former clubs, including Sampdoria, Lazio, Roma, Milan and Bologna. Thus, today Red Star Belgrade and Vojvodina took the opportunity to remember Mihajlovic together.
A special patch on the shirts commemorates his time playing for the clubs, their famous 1991 European Cup win when Red Star Belgrade beat Olympique Marseille on penalties in Bari. It was after that triumph that he moved to Roma in the summer of 1992, starting his experiences in the Italian Serie A.
