Putin Meets Lukashenko, Discusses Security, Military Cooperation and Economy. PHOTOS/TASS
MOSCOW – President of Russia Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko discussed economic and military cooperation, as well as security issues at their meeting, Friday (17/2/2023).
“As we have agreed, we will dedicate most of the time to preparing for a wider meeting with our government counterparts,” Putin said as he started the meeting with Lukashenko.

“And, as usual, talking about our entire relationship chain. It concerns security issues, military cooperation, but what underlies everything is the economy,” Putin continued, as quoted by TASS.
He mentions, increased trade between countries: It reached a record of more than 43 billion dollars in equivalent since last year.
“And the main thing that makes me very happy is that we are increasing our capabilities in the field of industrial cooperation, first of all,” said Putin.
Putin also said that thanks to the efforts made by Lukashenko, much of the Soviet legacy in the area had been preserved and subsequently “positively developed”.

“And, we can take advantage of the results of this development at this time, even by combining efforts, we create a kind of synergy. On the one hand there is your potential in the industrial field, and on the other hand there is the need of our market and the additional efforts of our Russian companies, engineers, scientific schools,” Putin said.
“All this is developing very effectively in several industries, and we hope that it will lead to good results for Belarus and Russia,” the Russian president said.
According to him, the work to strengthen the Unitary State also helps further economic development.
