FromSoftware creates through a tweet announced that Shadow of the Erdtree is in development. It is not yet known when this DLC expansion will become available. The Japanese site of the game makes it clear that the expansion will be available for all platforms on which Elden Ring has appeared: PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Series X|S and Windows.
Last week it was announced that Elden Ring has now been sold 20 million times. That makes it the best-selling game of last year after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. Elden Ring already won the Game of the Year award at the annual Game Awards.
Lots of freedom, unrelenting enemies
With its great popularity, Elden Ring was the breakthrough for the general public for FromSoftware. The developer has been praised by enthusiasts for years for its layered games with a lot of implicit storytelling, dark atmosphere and unrelenting enemies. Games like Sekiro and Dark Souls sold about 5 million times, Dark Souls 3 from 2016 was the biggest FromSoftware hit in sales with 10 million before the arrival of Elden Ring.
Elden Ring is the developer’s first open world game. Players are free to go wherever they want in the Lands Between game world. The huge, glowing Erdtree can often be seen in that world. In the first image of the expansion, that tree turns black.
