Specifically, we have been able to find out more information about his recently announced collaboration with One-Punch Man ahead of the Season 3 premiere. Thus, in a new interview with Comicbook.com, Overwatch 2 Vice President and Business Leader Jon Spector shared how this collaboration came about:
So, we really started seriously looking at these kinds of opportunities last year as we were preparing for the release of Overwatch 2, and as we were trying to find the right first collaboration. There were some ideas that we thought of. The first was basic. It was like, ‘Is this cool?’ And that was talking to our whole team about it, but also, you know, trying to put ourselves in Overwatch players’ shoes and say, ‘Do we think our players will think this is cool?’
And beyond that, we also started to think about what kinds of shows or places we could collaborate with that had an art style that would fit the game and where we thought it would be cool to bring the characters to life in Overwatch. And so as we were talking to Bandai Namco and evaluating some of the options, One-Punch Man came up for his super fun world that he’s created with these great iconic characters. And he loved us.
