Prime Video premieres this Friday, February 10 exclusively, the ambitious second season of Operation Black Tide in Spain, Portugal and Brazil. Filmed in Galicia and Portugal, the new installment takes place two years after the end of the first fictional season. Following Nando in prison as the heart of the story, the new episodes will navigate between crime and law, family revenge and justice. Nando will evolve following a journey full of betrayals and double games, walking through the fragile balance between the legal and the illegal: police vs. drug traffickers.
On the occasion of its upcoming premiere Prime video presented the second season with the series team and this is what they told us
The cast of the second season is made up of actors of the stature of Jorge López (Élite), Óscar Jaenada (Hernán), Esther Acebo (La casa de papel), Soraia Chaves (Drought), Patricia Vico (Hasta el cielo), Belén López (White Lines), Miguel de Lira (Living without permission) and Pêpê Rapazote (Narcos), who join Nerea Barros (La isla mínima), Leandro Firmino (City of God), Carles Francino (Las chicas del cable), Miquel Insua (Unity), Xosé Barato (Alba), Luis Zahera (The Kingdom), Bruno Gagliasso (Marighella) and Manuel Manquiña (Before the burning). Juan Pablo Shuk (Narcos), Melania Cruz (Dhogs), Diego Anido (As Bestas), Daniel Ibañez (The Laws of the Border) and Milo Taboada (The Island of Lies) complete the cast.
About season 2
The second season of Operación Marea Negra will feature five 45-minute episodes produced by Ficción Producciones (Operación Marea Negra T1, 3 caminos), with Mamen Quintas and Julio Casal repeating as executive producers along with Daniel Calparsoro; and in Portugal with RTP and the executive production of Luis Ismael from Lightbox. TVG and other regional television channels will broadcast the episodes free-to-air in Spain after a period of exclusivity on Prime Video. The management team will continue to be led by Daniel Calparsoro, who will be joined by Igor Legarreta (Automata). For his part, in this second season, Jose Rodríguez (The Gypsy Bride) joins as creator and script coordinator, along with Patxi Amezcua (Without limits) and Natxo López (Living without permission) who accompany him on the team.
In addition, on January 13, Prime Video exclusively premiered Destino Operación Marea Negra, an extra chapter in the form of a making of where the filmmakers and protagonists open the doors to the second season of Operación Marea Negra and narrate how they have prepared to continue the Nando’s story Serving as a bridge between the two seasons, this episode explores the process of making a hit series, with dynamic interviews, filming scenes and moments between takes that show the journey from within.
