In 2020, Suzuki released two new models, which were secretly not new models at all. For example, the Across was just a Toyota RAV4 that you could only get with plug-in hybrid technology, and the Swace turned out to be little more than a Corolla Touring Sports with some extra standard equipment. The latter received an update at Toyota a while ago that gave the powertrain a bit more power and efficiency, so guess what news Suzuki is releasing now.
More power, more fake exhausts
Indeed: meet the new Suzuki Swace! You can recognize it from the outside by its new headlights and taillights with more extensive LED signature, although you have to go shopping for that — just like with the Corolla — in the higher trim levels. Each copy will receive a new lower panel in the rear bumper, with from now on actually two chrome accents that should give the impression of tough exhausts. Suzuki also borrows the new driver display from his compatriot and the number of USB-C ports in the cabin is expanded to four, but of course we have not yet had the most important thing.
Underneath the Swace is namely equipped with Toyota’s latest generation of hybrid technology, for which we could simply refer you to the news report about the Corolla. Then you should not read too far, because the Suzuki sticks to the 1.8 motorisation as usual and leaves the stronger 2.0 liter version for what it is. However, that one powertrain sees its power increase from 122 to 140 hp, so that your Swace now accelerates to 100 km / h in 9.4 instead of 11.1 seconds. You could almost understand why those two fake exhausts stick to the butt…
Suzuki has not communicated the prices of its renewed Swace for the time being, but expects that they will not deviate far from the current base price of 33,499 euros.
