Authorities act due to threats against Nintendo
According to the Kyoto Shimbun (via Nintendo Everything), the arrest occurred on February 9. The case actually dates back to June of last year, when the woman sent a package to the Nintendo offices located in Kyoto. Inside it was a bag of incense and a letter with threats.
Authorities revealed that some of the messages were “I will kill you” and “Nintendo will die.” Investigators tried to find some kind of connection between the woman and the manager to explain this hate crime. However, it was concluded that those involved had never met.
In this way, the police ruled out any personal motive on the part of the attacker to act against the manager. As we told you, the case did not go any further and the person affected is safe. At the time of writing this, Nintendo has not commented on the matter.
The police department has not revealed any further details about the detained woman or the case as such. It is not the first time that Nintendo and other Japanese companies have been targeted by threats. Previously, Square Enix, SEGA and Konami have been in similar situations.
