VATICAN CITY, FEBRUARY 12 – “The news arriving from Nicaragua has saddened me not a little. And here I cannot fail to recall with concern the bishop of Matagalpa, Rolando Alvarez, whom I love so much, sentenced to 26 years in prison, and also the people who were deported to the United States. I pray for them and for all those who suffer in that dear nation”. The Pope said it at the Angelus. “I ask you for your prayers. We also ask the Lord, through the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, to open the hearts of political leaders and all citizens to the sincere search for the peace that is born of truth, justice, freedom and love. And it is achieved through the patient exercise of dialogue. Let us pray to Our Lady together”, the Pope invited in his appeal for Nicaragua. (HANDLE).
