“La concept bike SR-X aims to become the reference model for the design of electric motorcycles of the near future, combining smooth and rigorous lines with the decisive appearance and purely performance details typical of modern super sports cars”. Bill Web states. “The SR-X’s clean, rigorous and functional design approach has been matched with aggressive proportions and technical components usually found in traditional race bikes. The SR-X represents an attempt to define a new sub-category of high performance electric motorcycles, a model that is a cross between a streetfighter and a track bike. Reduced fairings and aerodynamic performance are combined with an authentic and road-oriented character. We wanted sporty riders to appreciate the harmonious design of this concept: a model with a modern look, futistic and minimal, which however does not sacrifice the charm of the mechanics and the stylistic purity of the superbikes. The work team wanted to create a low and decisive profile, leaning towards the front with the fairing parts acting as an unconventional link between the completely exposed mechanics and the rear of the bike. Given that the technical base created by Zero for the SR/S already had a strong impact look, we wanted to integrate it in the best possible way in the final composition”.
Brian Wismann, VP of Product Development at Zero Motorcycles, also commented: “When Bill first presented his Mono-Racr project digitally several years ago, I immediately understood that the language of a simple and clean shapes would have been perfect for an electric motorcycle. It is exciting to have succeeded with the SR-X concept to realizing Bill’s vision of a platform for our sportbikes“.
At the moment it is only a prototype, but Zero Motorcycles is convinced that “this new concept will inspire the two-wheel industry, further pushing the boundaries of motorcycle style”. We’ll see what the future holds for us.
