ROME, 04 FEB – New exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine, with the mediation of the United Arab Emirates. The head of the Ukrainian presidential office Andriy Yermak has announced that 116 prisoners of war have been released by Russia: the group includes soldiers who fought in Mariupol, partisans of Kherson, soldiers of Bakhmut. The bodies of dead foreign volunteers Andrew Bagshaw and Christopher Parry were also returned. Among the 116 Ukrainian soldiers who returned today from Russian captivity, 23 are wounded or ill, some have lost limbs due to frostbite, the youngest has just turned 20, the oldest is 62, specifies the coordination headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war. Simultaneously, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that a group of 63 Russian POWs had been released after UAE-brokered negotiations with Ukraine. This is the second prisoner exchange of 2023.
