‘Ndrangheta, arrested in Bali Antonio Strangio: he was a fugitive for 7 years
‘Ndrangheta fugitive Antonio Strangio, 32, was arrested at Bali airport. The man was linked to the homonymous ‘ndrina of San Luca, in the province of Reggio Calabria, and also known as “Janchi”.
Strangio had been wanted for 7 years for the production and trafficking of drugs with the aggravating circumstance of the mafia method. The capture took place as part of the operation called “Eclissi 2”, directed by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Reggio Calabria and conducted by the Investigation Department of the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Reggio Calabria.
Strangio had been struck by the Interpol “Red Notice”, i.e. the international arrest notice for wanted subjects all over the world. The capture took place on the evening of February 2 at 9 pm local time (3 pm in Italy) in Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, Indonesia.
Strangio’s arrest took place a few hours after another which took place in Saint Etienne in France, that of Edgardo Greco, a former primrose of the ‘Ndrangheta, who had been on the run for 17 years. Known as “chef of the ‘Ndrangheta”, Greco was sentenced to life imprisonment for double murder.
