Suara.com – National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo gave important instructions to his ranks. This was after the recent image of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) was tarnished due to the actions of several of its members, from Ferdy Sambo to Teddy Minahasa.
The National Police Chief asked all of his subordinates to take positive actions, especially to improve the quality of public services. The hope is that people’s trust in the Bhayangkara Corps can increase again.
This was conveyed by the National Police Chief during the handover ceremony (sertijab) of the General Supervision Inspectorate (Irwasum) of the National Police, from Komjen Pol. Agung Budi Maryoto to Komjen Pol. Ahmad Dofiri at the Rupatama Building, Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Tuesday (28/2/2023).
National Police Chief Sigit does not deny that the National Police are currently facing a situation of decreasing public trust. Because of that, he ordered his staff to rise up by working hard in unison.

“Mainly because the National Police are currently facing a situation that of course all colleagues know. The Police are faced with dynamics that reduce the level of public trust. Of course the National Police must now be solid, work together and work hard to restore public trust,” said the Chief of Police.
This issue, said the National Police Chief, is a joint homework. He also hoped that the police would be able to ‘reborn’ in order to win back the trust of the people of the country.
“I think this is homework that must continue to be done together. So hopefully the National Police can soon be reborn and restore public trust,” continued the Chief of Police.
Not only improving the quality of service, the National Police Chief also conveyed that another step that needs to be taken by the National Police to increase public trust is to go directly to answer all problems in the community.
According to him, responding quickly to all cases reported by the public not only enhances the image of the Police, but also primarily upholds justice. The National Police Chief emphasized that this must be inflamed.

The four-star general added, regaining the level of public trust is important for the National Police to further strengthen in the future in the context of overseeing and dealing with all national and international agendas.
Moreover, in terms of preparations for securing the stages of the 2024 simultaneous elections.
“Because in the future we have entered the election stage, which of course requires extraordinary efforts from the Polri institution. The key is to regain public trust,” said Sigit.
In his remarks, the National Police Chief conveyed Komjen Pol. Agung Budi Maryoto while serving as Irwasum Polri has left a positive legacy for the Bhayangkara Corps institution.
Agung succeeded in making Polri able to maintain its Unqualified Qualification (WTP) title nine times in a row, making system improvements in the areas of supervision, management, budgeting and finance.
Even after retirement, Itwasum Polri has launched a risk management system. Agung also led the Special Team (Timsus) formed by the National Police Chief to uncover the Duren Tiga case, which had a positive impact on increasing public trust in the Police again.
Prior to the Duren Tiga incident (the murder of Brigadier Yosua), the level of public trust in the Police was increased to 70 percent, then decreased to 50 percent. And in October 2022 it continued to increase to 53.8 percent (Populi Center survey).
Therefore, Sigit hopes, these positive things must be maintained and improved to be even better in the future.
“Of course what Pak Irwasum has written is a legacy for all of us. And I hope that the new Pak Irwasum can maintain it and of course his hopes are maintained and improved,” he concluded. (BETWEEN)
