The quality and speed of our Internet connection is key in the case of online video games. Just a few milliseconds can make the difference between a victory or a defeat in our game, so all the help we can get will always be appreciated. In this case, if you are a Movistar customer, you may not know that you have a special gaming mode where you can get the most out of it.
Through the Movistar Gaming configurations you will be able to take a leap in quality and make the most of the Internet connection you have contracted with the blue operator.
Activate your Movistar gaming mode
With the Movistar Smart WiFi application you have the possibility of activate a gaming mode so that your connection is as perfect as possible when you go to play video games. As you know, if we have a lot of lag, the quality of the online game and the chances of winning it can be compromised, but it has an easy solution.
If you have the Smart WiFi 6 router and the Movistar Smart WiFi app (or you can also activate Movistar Home Smart Wifi Gaming), you can activate gaming mode and thus, thanks to this functionality, all home internet traffic is concentrated in the game so that it goes smoothly and does not give performance problems.
It is really easy to use and just by accessing the mobile app you will have the possibility to control this functionality and see the level of connection. This functionality allows you to play online and over WiFi as if you were connected to a cable, with the only requirement to be connected to the WiFi Plus network. It also allows you to quickly open ports for a better experience depending on the game or online service you are using.
Check lag while playing
Once activated, you can monitor the state of latency or lag while you play, to check that everything is in order. You can enter by touch by accessing the “See All” section from the main menu and then the “Smart WiFi Gaming” section. you can also say “OK Aura, ir a Smart WiFi Gaming” to access with a simple voice command.
you will see a screen that breaks down your ping, that is, the connection latency between the server and your device, in real time. Your screen shows you the latency in your home, from the game controller to the router, and the latency with the game server/service, from the router to the server.
If the screen turns orange, it is indicating that your connectivity is not optimal. If you want to find out what is failing to improve your connection, click on the area of the screen where an alert symbol appears to access the advice that Movistar offers you to improve your coverage. If the screen turns red you can no longer play and you will not be able to see the ping.
