He E3 2023 it starts to heat up. Despite the absence of Sony, Microsoft and Nintendowe know that Ubisoft is going to be “with a lot of stuff”… and according to VGC’s Andy Robinson, another big name that is going to be there is Konami.
On the first episode of the VGC podcast, Robinson discussed that we can expect a mix of “company style”Gamescom“: The big three will not be there, but there will be many third parties presenting a multitude of games. And Konami could finally bring its artillery.
Since they already talked about many Silent Hill games at their own event, Robinson is betting that at this E3 we will see the rest of the new Konami projects to revive their IP: a new Castlevania and a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3.
Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake and a new Castlevania, likely Konami bullets at E3 2023
“From what I understand, Konami is going to have a great E3. We’ve already talked about this before, maybe too much, because they have taken longer than expected to announce it, but we already said last year that they are reviving all their IPs, opening up to work with outside companies”.
“There’s a new Castlevaniaplus the Dead Cells DLC that they already announced, and there’s also the much-talked-about remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, which I hope they finally show.”
Robinson strongly states that the MGS3 Snake Eater remake and Castlevania reboot are in development. He doesn’t know if they’ll be at E3, but he’s pretty sure Konami will have a booth at the show, so he thinks they’ll announce them (at least some of them) at the June 2023 event.
Yes indeed, not quite sure what will happen next with the rest of the Metal Gear Solid games: perhaps the HD remaster on modern consoles is not the option that Konami chooses…
“What’s less clear is what they’re going to do with the other older Metal Gear games that we’re all looking forward to playing on modern platforms. A year or two ago it was planned, but now it’s less clear.”
“I’ve heard there’s a debate about how they should approach them. I imagine the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will be something of a test.”
What is it referring to? That at the moment it does not seem that he has planned anything regarding HD remasters of Metal Gear Solid 1 or 2 (or 4), since that could be commercially counterproductive.
If the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is successful, they would probably go on to make remakes of the other games. But to have launched a Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on modern consoles, along with a complete remake of 3, it would clip the wings of other possible remakes.
