When Elon Musk took over Twitter, one of his first decisions was to change the verification system. Now, the blue checkmark would not be intended for someone who was distinguished or famous, but for those who paid for the Twitter Blue subscription. Although this was criticized, it seems that it has been successful enough that Meta is encouraged to copy it.
In a message, Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Meta, announced the launch of Meta Verified. This is a new service that will allow users of different Meta platforms to receive a blue verification badge.
According to Zuckerber, it is a feature that seeks to “improve the authenticity and security of its services.” Of course, it’s also about making money, since the subscription will cost $15 USD per month if you sign up via iOS and Android or $12 USD if you sign up directly from their website.

This verification will apply to Instagram and Facebook accounts, so when paying you will be verified for both services. Of course, it will not be available to everyone since it will only be used for adults who upload an official identification that has a name that corresponds to the same as their profiles. Once you verify yourself, you will not be able to change your name, username, date of birth, or photo without going through the verification process again.
But will verification have more advantages? Yes. Meta Verified members will get 100 higher search visibility. Plus, they’ll get 100 stars that they can use to tip their content creators on Facebook. It also includes exclusive stickers to use in stories.

The paid service will be available from next week in Australia and New Zealand. There it will go through a testing phase before reaching more countries.
