WASHINGTON – In the Nevada desert, United States of America (USA), which is remote is a “small country in the world” with its own dictator, cookie dough currency, some odd rules and an annual celebration called The Dude.
The Republic of Molossia may sound a strange name, like an imaginary world discovered by someone under the influence of a hallucinogenic drug. However, this “state” really exists.
Located in the Dayton Valley, near the Carson River, Molossia was founded on May 26, 1977 by concurrent Dictator Kevin Baugh, and his friend James Spielman.
The capital of Molossia is the City of Baughston, named after its friendly leader.
YouTuber The Wonton Don visits “President” Baugh in Molossia to see a strange sight.
“(James Spielman) is king and I am prime minister and he moves on to other things but I stick with the idea,” Baugh (59) told Don as quoted by the Daily Star, Wednesday (1/2/2023).
The sovereign “country” has three permanent residents. They are President Baugh, his wife and First Lady Adrianne, and their daughter Alexis, who is the Chief of Police.
While President Baugh claims Molossia is an independent country, the territory has yet to receive recognition from any of the United Nations member states.
But, like any country, Molossia has a complex legal system and its own rules.
