Sumatran voice – Deputy President Ma’ruf Amin commented on the death sentence against former Head of the Propam Polri division, Ferdy Sambo.
Ma’ruf admitted that the verdict was the right of the court. He ensured that the government did not intervene in the case.
“I think that the matter of the Sambo decision belongs to the court, everything is (the court)’s right. The government cannot intervene in that,” Ma’ruf said as quoted from the Vice President’s Secretariat Youtube, Thursday (16/2/2023).
He also talked about the public’s reaction to the judge’s decision to sentence Sambo to death. Ma’ruf saw that the community felt that the decision on Sambo was fair.

“Indeed, if I look at the reaction of the community, the community actually considers it fairer. Not the government, yes, the government is not taking sides, abstaining, yes, it will not give any judgment,” he continued.
It is known that the panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court sentenced Ferdy Sambo to death.
Sambo was found guilty of premeditated murder of his aide, Brigadier N Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J.
“Criminalized the defendant Ferdy Sambo, sentenced to death,” said Chairman of the Panel of Judges Wahyu Iman Santoso, quoted by Suara.com, Monday (13/2/2023).
Sambo’s actions were legally and convincingly proven to have committed the crime of participating in taking someone’s life with prior planning as charged.

Ferdy Sambo was declared to have violated Article 340 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code. Sambo was also found guilty of violating Article 49 of the ITE Law in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.
The judge stated that there were a number of things that incriminated Sambo, one of which had tarnished the Polri institution. The judge stated that there was nothing mitigating his actions.
