Sorry to report the sad news of scomparsa at Leiji Matsumoto, stage name of Akira Matsumoto, who died at the age of 85 on February 13 due to heart failure. The news was only released in these hours by the Toei production studio, with which the Japanese mangaka had established a long artistic partnership.
Leiji Matsumoto is best known to the general public for having birthplace of the sci-fi manga Captain Harlockcertainly his most famous work, but he also made Battleship Yamato and Galaxy Express 999in which characters from his previous series also appear.
