After the disastrous defeat (2-5) in the eighth finals of the Champions League against Real Madrid, Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp mainly looked back on the positive things. “We played very well before the break. The fact that we quickly reached 2-0 was certainly great. Well, and then we give away some goals and everything changes.”
It was equalized before the break, after the resumption the Spanish defending champion ran out of the tournament. “At half-time we still believed in it,” Klopp continued. “We thought we could pull the game back to us. We will then be a bit unhappy. They will gain confidence and we will do a lot of things wrong. We were chased, instead of the other way around. That’s why it went wrong.”
A second game will follow in Madrid.
