Final Fantasy VII already has an official day in Japan
Today, January 31, marks the 26th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII’s debut in Japan and the authorities of that country did not miss the opportunity to pay a well-deserved tribute to the legendary RPG. This is the confirmation of Official Day that was granted to the Squaresoft game (today Square Enix) given its importance at a cultural level and its impact on different sectors. That said, January 31 will remain as the Official Day of Final Fantasy VII in Japan and the video game will be remembered every year.
We’re delighted to announce “Final Fantasy VII Day” has been officially registered in Japan, to commemorate the anniversary of the launch of the original game.

As you can see in the tweet from the official Final Fantasy VII account, the certificate confirming the award of Official Day to the video game and an image with Yoshinori Kitase holding the recognition are included. Kitase was part of the original project and currently continues to work as a producer for the remakes that have brought this story back.
Likewise, Kitase shared a message whose format is the same as the texts of the original game that refers to the following: “wl January 31, 1997, the day Final Fantasy VII came out, it was not only a significant day for the Final Fantasy series , also marked the moment when so many important things began to move for those of us working on it. I remember being overwhelmed by the speed with which technology in video games was evolving, but I also had big dreams about the future. With the establishment of this official day, I will always remember those moments and keep them in my heart”.
