TEL AVIV, 26 FEB – Efforts to restore calm and reduce tension in the Palestinian Territories must be “intensified”. This was stated by King Abdullah II of Jordan who in Amman met with the US Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McGurk who is in the country for the meeting in Amman between Israelis and Palestinians on the situation in the West Bank. At the same time – according to the official Hashemite agency Petra – Abdullah asked that “every unilateral measure that could lead to instability and undermine the prospects of peace end”. The monarch then called for the relaunch of negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis for a peace agreement. (HANDLE).
