Rick Karsdorp hopes to make his comeback at AS Roma soon. The Dutch defender made his last appearance on November 9 in the away match against Sassuolo (1-1) and then received a lot of criticism from coach José Mourinho. Karsdorp seemed to be on its way to another club, but that is no longer the case, according to an interview that the former Feyeno player gave to AS Roma TV on Wednesday.
“The last few weeks I had some problems with my knee. I trained a lot in the gym but also individually on the field and I feel good now. I’m glad I’m back,” said Karsdorp.
After the game against Sassuolo, Mourinho said: “He betrayed the others by his lack of professionalism on the pitch. I told him he can look for a new club in January.” As a result of those words, players’ unions VVCS and FIFPro revolted. They stood up for Karsdorp and let it be known that what they consider to be a “bullying campaign” is against FIFA rules.
“FIFPro and my lawyer did not speak on my behalf. Things were said that are not true,” Karsdorp now told AS Roma TV. “This is my sixth year here. I really enjoy playing for this club.”
