Markéta Ottomanská on the Sparta Prague player’s coming out: “He’s lifted a weight and I don’t blame him for how it ended between us”
Jakub Jankto’s coming out is shaking up the football world. Many messages of support for the midfielder of Sparta Prague, ex Udinese and Sampdoria after the announcement of his homosexuality, (“It’s an important day. Every human being must be free to live as he wants” said Neymar), and now it’s ticking too the testimony of former partner Markéta Ottomanská with whom Jankto has a three-year-old son. The two broke up in 2021 and the girl spoke to the Czech site Idnes.cz: “It is Kuby’s story, his confession. I am proud that he was able to gather the strength to come out publicly. He is the first footballer in activities to announce it. Perhaps only those who have finished their careers have admitted it. Everyone else keeps it a secret. They are afraid of what people say”.

The ex partner prefers not to get too into their personal story. Much less on the moment of the “family” coming out: “I don’t want to divulge the details. When he told me, he also gave me a lot of freedom. Now the important thing is that he is at ease and happy. He will certainly be relieved and nothing will he will eat more into the soul. He was afraid people wouldn’t accept him for who he was. He was stressed about it. I think people will like him as much as before. I don’t deal with our past anymore. I don’t blame him for how it ended between us, I hope that now he is more serene and at peace with himself”.
